Recently, the coronavirus outbreak in China (now called COVID-19) has caused global concern. The first case news came from a seafood and meat market in Wuhan, China in December 2019. Although Wuhan and other Chinese cities have been quarantined since then, COVID-19 has spread to almost 120 countries internationally. Also the first Covid-19 cases has been confirmed in Turkey.
What is the coronavirus?
A coronavirus is a virus that is found in animals and can rarely be transmitted from animals to humans and then transmitted from person to person. In addition to COVID-19, other human coronaviruses that have become epidemic include:
MERS virus, Middle East respiratory syndrome.
SARS virus is a virus known as the severe acute respiratory syndrome that first occurred in Guangdong province of south China.
What are the symptoms of coronavirus?
- Symptoms of COVID-19 range from mild to severe. The development of symptoms lasts 2-14 days after exposure. Symptoms can include:
- High temperature,
- Cough,
- Shortness of breath and difficulty breathing,
Those with a weakened immune system may develop more serious symptoms, such as pneumonia (pneumonia) or bronchitis. So far, most of the confirmed cases are adults. However, some children are also infected. There is no evidence that children are at higher risk of getting the virus. This is because the proteins that the coronovirus will attach to in the lungs are not developed in children.
What Causes Coronavirus Infection?
People first get coronavirus through contact with animals. Then it can spread from person to person. Paramedics still do not know which animal caused COVID-19.
The COVID-19 virus can spread through contact with certain body fluids, such as droplets in cough. Also, touching something that an infected person touches and then touching your mouth, nose, or eyes can cause contamination.
How is Coronavirus Diagnosed?
If COVID-19 have begun to show its symptoms or if you have had to be in close contact with a suspect who is showing COVID-19 symptons, you should contact your family doctor immediately. Your doctor may run tests to diagnose the disease and rule out other common infections. In some cases, your doctor may recommend that you isolate yourself to prevent the spread of the infection.
Can a Coronarvirus epidemic be prevented?
Try to avoid people who are sick or gathered in large groups. If you are sick, stay at home.
Cover your cough with a handkerchief or cough on your upper arm or elbow. Do not cough into your hands.
Wash your hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially after going to the toilet, before eating, and after cleaning your nose, coughing or sneezing. If you are not near soap and water, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer containing at least 60% alcohol. If hands are visibly dirty, always wash your hands with soap and water. Avoid touching your mouth, nose, or eyes.
Countries' Centers for Disease Control issued travel recommendations for various affected countries. If you need to travel to an area with COVID-19, follow the recommendation list of the Ministry of Health. And talk to your doctor about your condition.
Coronavirus Treatment
There is currently no vaccine or treatment for coronavirus COVID-19. Symptoms of a coronavirus often develop on its own. Generally, colds can be confused with flu symptoms. If your symptoms feel worse than previous cold illnesses after symptoms occur, contact your doctor. Like a cold or flu, find water and rest absolutely. If you have trouble breathing, get medical attention immediately. If possible, avoid contact with others when you are sick. If you have COVID-19, wear a face mask to prevent the virus from spreading to others. If you do not have COVID-19, it is not recommended to wear a mask that is not full coverage.
What are the questions you should ask your doctor when you have doubts?
- What can I do to prevent my friends and family from taking COVID-19?
- Which non-prescription medications give best results for my symptoms?
- Is there a risk of complications due to COVID-19?
- What should I follow, if there are any complications?
Measures That Can Be Taken in Living Areas for Coronary Protection and Avoidance
The coronavirus can remain on the contact surfaces for hours or even days. Disinfection of surfaces is the first way to prevent the spread of viruses. Disposable gloves should be used before cleaning and disinfecting these surfaces.
Frequent virus disinfection in public areas such as shopping malls, schools, food production factories, health institutions can prevent the virus to be present on the surface.
In addition, indoor surfaces can be replaced with antimicrobial surfaces. Our Polser AMB product is a worldwide patented product that covers the fiberglass sheets used for indoor walls and makes the plate 99.9% antimicrobial, including viruses.
